            THE LAW OF CHRIST...

The  new  commandment, given by Jesus, is the law  of  divine  love,
"Love one another. As I have loved you" (John 13:34).

JOH  13:34  "A new command I give you: Love one another. As  I  have
loved you, so you must love one another.

It is that "perfect law that gives freedom" of James 1:25; 2:12, the
bearing  of  another's burdens of Galatians 6:2, the loving  with  a
pure  heart of 1 Peter 1:22-23, outpouring without restraint in  the
power of the Spirit, that law of the heart and mind (Heb 10:16),  of
            the new covenant of grace.

JAM  1:25  But the man who looks intently into the perfect law  that
gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he  has
heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does.

JAM  2:12  Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by  the
            law that gives freedom,

GAL  6:2   Carry  each other's burdens, and in  this  way  you  will
            fulfill the law of Christ.

1PE 1:22  Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth
so  that you have sincere love for your brothers, love  one  another
            deeply, from the heart.

1PE 1:23  For you have been born again, not of perishable seed,  but
of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

HEB  10:16  "This is the covenant I will make with them  after  that
time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I  will
            write them on their minds."

            THE LAW OF MOSES...

Due  to  the  length  of the "entire Law of  Moses",  only  the  Ten
Commandments verses will be listed in this section. It will be  both
in the King James Version and the New International Version.

Israel received the Mosaic covenant in three sections...

            1.>    The Commandments,
Which was the fundamental Law of Israel,
                   embodying the divine will (Exodus 20:1-26);

            2.>    The Judgments,
                   Covering Israel's social life (Exodus 21:1--24:11);

            3.>    The Ordinances,
Covering Israel's religious life (Exodus 24:12--31:18).

answer back to the LORD.              the  words of the people  unto
                                                  the LORD. (KJV)

As  related  to man dispensationally, the Mosaic  Law  covered  that
period  of time from Sinai to the crucifixion  (Galatians  3:23-24),
and  its relation to the believer during this age was made  manifest
by  the  legal  teachings,  especially  regarding  circumcision,  as
recorded in Acts 15:1-32 and Galatians 2:1-5.

GAL 3:23  Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law,
locked up until faith should be revealed.

GAL 3:24  So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that  we
            might be justified by faith.

ACT 15:1  Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching
the  brothers: "Unless you are circumcised, according to the  custom
taught by Moses, you cannot be saved."

ACT  15:2   This brought Paul and Barnabas into  sharp  dispute  and
debate  with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed,  along  with
some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles  and
            elders about this question.

ACT  15:3  The church sent them on their way, and as  they  traveled
through  Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had  been
converted. This news made all the brothers very glad.

ACT  15:4   When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed  by  the
church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything
            God had done through them.

ACT  15:5  Then some of the believers who belonged to the  party  of
the  Pharisees stood up and said, "The Gentiles must be  circumcised
and required to obey the law of Moses."

ACT 15:6  The apostles and elders met to consider this question.

ACT  15:7  After much discussion, Peter got up and  addressed  them:
"Brothers,  you know that some time ago God made a choice among  you
that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the  gospel
            and believe.

ACT 15:8  God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them  by
giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.

ACT  15:9   He  made  no distinction between us  and  them,  for  he
            purified their hearts by faith.

ACT  15:10  Now then, why do you try to test God by putting  on  the
necks  of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers  have
            been able to bear?

ACT 15:11  No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord  Jesus
that we are saved, just as they are."

ACT  15:12   The whole assembly became silent as  they  listened  to
Barnabas and Paul telling about the miraculous signs and wonders God
had done among the Gentiles through them.

ACT 15:13  When they finished, James spoke up: "Brothers, listen  to
            me.

ACT  15:14   Simon has described to us how God at first  showed  his
concern by taking from the Gentiles a people for himself.

ACT 15:15  The words of the prophets are in agreement with this,  as
            it is written:

ACT  15:16   "'After this I will return and rebuild  David's  fallen
tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it,

ACT  15:17  that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and  all  the
Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things'

ACT 15:18  that have been known for ages.

ACT 15:19  "It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it
difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.

ACT 15:20  Instead we should write to them, telling them to  abstain
from  food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the  meat
of strangled animals and from blood.

ACT  15:21   For  Moses has been preached in  every  city  from  the
earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath."

ACT  15:22   Then the apostles and elders, with  the  whole  church,
decided  to  choose some of their own men and send them  to  Antioch
with  Paul  and Barnabas. They chose Judas  (called  Barsabbas)  and
Silas, two men who were leaders among the brothers.

ACT  15:23  With them they sent the following letter:  The  apostles
and  elders,  your brothers, To the Gentile  believers  in  Antioch,
            Syria and Cilicia: Greetings.

ACT  15:24   We have heard that some went out from  us  without  our
authorization  and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what  they
            said.

ACT 15:25  So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to  you
with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul--

ACT  15:26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our  Lord
            Jesus Christ.

ACT  15:27  Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to  confirm  by
word of mouth what we are writing.

ACT 15:28  It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden
you with anything beyond the following requirements:

ACT  15:29  You are to abstain from food sacrificed to  idols,  from
blood,   from  the  meat  of  strangled  animals  and  from   sexual
immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.

ACT  15:30   The men were sent off and went down to  Antioch,  where
they gathered the church together and delivered the letter.

ACT  15:31   The people read it and were glad  for  its  encouraging
            message.

ACT 15:32  Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said  much
to encourage and strengthen the brothers.

GAL  2:1   Fourteen years later I went up again to  Jerusalem,  this
time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also.

GAL 2:2  I went in response to a revelation and set before them  the
gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. But I did this privately to
those  who seemed to be leaders, for fear that I was running or  had
            run my race in vain.

GAL  2:3  Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled  to  be
circumcised, even though he was a Greek.

GAL  2:4   This  matter  arose  because  some  false  brothers   had
infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ  Jesus
            and to make us slaves.

GAL 2:5  We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the  truth
of the gospel might remain with you.

            Christian relationship is...
God  required  righteousness under the Law  (Exo  19:5),  but
under  grace  He  counts all righteous who  merely  believe  (Romans
            3:21-22); 10:9-10).

EXO 19:5  Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of
all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the  whole
            earth is mine,

ROM 3:21  But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been
made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.

ROM  3:22  This righteousness from God comes through faith in  Jesus
Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,

ROM 10:9  That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord,"  and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
            saved.

ROM  10:10   For  it is with your heart that  you  believe  and  are
justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

The  Law is holy, just, good, and also spiritual  (Romans  7:12-14),
but  man  was  unable  to keep it, and it  became  a  curse  to  him
            (Galatians 3:10).

GAL  3:10  All who rely on observing the law are under a curse,  for
it  is  written:  "Cursed is everyone who does not  continue  to  do
everything written in the Book of the Law."

So Christ redeemed believers from that curse (Galatians 3:13),  also
redeeming them from under the Law (Galatians 4:5), that they  "might
receive the full rights of sons".

GAL 3:13  Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a
curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung  on
            a tree."

GAL  4:5  to redeem those under law, that we might receive the  full
            rights of sons.

And now believers, not only redeemed from the Law, are also dead  to
it  (Galatians  2:19), being "not under the law,  but  under  grace"
            (Romans 6:14).

GAL 2:19  For through the law I died to the law so that I might live
            for God.

ROM  6:14   For sin shall not be your master, because  you  are  not
            under law, but under grace.
