Seances And The Rev. Moon Fred Russell Arlington, Texas

In today's labyrinth of different doctrines and strange eclectic religions, sects and cults, one can be hard pressed to know who has the truth and speaks for God -- assuming the un-Christian doctrine that one does not believe the Scriptures are God's infallible word to mankind.

Such people are truly like a ship without a rudder in the midst of a roaring sea ready to perish! (Eph. 4:14).

During one of Jesus' debates with the Jews, He said: "He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God," (John 8:47).

The Greek word used for "hear" in this verse has the sense of "obey" and is thus translated in many NT passages. So, someone who says that they are "of God" and are "sent from Him," had better obey the words of God (i.e. the Bible!)

When Jesus said, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them," (Matt. 7:20), this is what He was referring to.

The above introduction poignantly elucidates the dark spiritual state of Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Why? Because it is a well-known fact that he has participated in seances conducted by a spirit transmedium named Arthur Ford (a famous Philadelphian necromancer, or one who inquires of the dead).

Ford's "spirit guide" first spoke of Moon on November 2, 1964, then again on March 18, 1965 and on April 21, 1965, (Unknown But Known, p. 121).

Moon was present at this last seance and his comments were tape recorded and later transcribed.

The spirit guide's name is Fletcher and he is supposed to be the spirit of someone who died years ago. Some of the doctrines that this spirit guide declares are:

1) "There was no Christ 2,000 years ago -- there was a man 2,000 years ago through whom the Anointed One was able to manifest." (Transcript, p. 1)

2) "The world has known many saviors (Ibid, p. 10).

3) "There is no truth -- never has been any truth -- once and for all delivered to the saints," (p. 11).

4) "God has never had anything to reveal to man except these two things: that God is and that Man is a part of the Divine Creation. And what God is every man is in the process of becoming." (Ibid).

To anyone who "hears the words of God" found in the Holy Writ, it is blatantly clear that the above teachings are "doctrines of demons!" (I Timothy 4:12).

Considering the above, it is not surprising that this same spirit guide would strongly endorse Rev. Moon and that Moon would readily accept such an endorsement as coming from God.

Here are some statements given during the seance: Col. Pak (an associate of Rev. Moon's): In other words, Sun Myung Moon will remain the channel through whom God speaks? Fletcher: Yes, that's right. Col. Pak: You mean that one Spirit of Truth is the Christ, now reincarnated in Sun Myung Moon? Fletcher: I would not say that he is reincarnated -- because the spirit of Truth can incarnate. Col. Pak: Just incarnate? Fletcher: Yes. That does not mean necessarily the historical Jesus... Col. Pak: In other words, the Spirit of Truth is incarnated in Sun Myung Moon. Fletcher: And it may be incarnated in a dozen other people.

In consulting this transmedium, Arthur Ford, Moon has violated many scriptural warnings which plainly proclaim God's stern disapproval of any contact with mediums (Lev. 19:31; Deut 18:9-14).

It is therefore obvious that Rev. Moon does not revere, nor hear, the words of God!

In these last days, we must especially take heed to the words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount: "Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits (Matt. 7:15, 16a).

Please pray for those souls who are blinded by Rev. Moon's Unification Church.
